Big Sipz is taking its latest flavor launch out of this world. On October 16, the ready-to-drink cocktail brand partnered with near-space flight specialists Filmed in Space to send a cup of its newest offering, Blast Off Blue, into the stratosphere, turning the product’s arrival into an unconventional marketing spectacle.

The stunt marks the latest evolution in Big Sipz’s approach to cultural and experiential marketing, which has increasingly moved beyond celebrity collaborations to embrace live music, creator partnerships and community-driven events.

For the launch, Big Sipz enlisted Cole Steiner and Cenzo Hayes, founders of cult-followed streetwear brand Dirtbag Clothing, who participated in a friendly competition to see who could get the beverage airborne first. The collaboration added a social media-driven element to the campaign, extending the flavor’s introduction beyond a traditional product announcement.

“Sending the product to the edge of space wasn’t just about making noise around a new flavor,” said Joey Parris, chief marketing officer at Patco Brands. “This was about creating a moment people would want to engage with and remember.”

The latest activation builds on a marketing strategy first established in 2024 through Big Sipz’s Purple Punch collaboration with Atlanta rap veteran Waka Flocka Flame. That partnership reportedly generated enough consumer demand for the company to triple production of the flavor, helping establish a blueprint for pairing product development with recognizable cultural figures.

Since then, Big Sipz has expanded its presence through live entertainment, sponsoring The Happy Group’s Cali Love concert series at Pershing Square in Los Angeles this summer. Hosted by Big Boy, the four-part series featured performances from Xzibit, The Game, Too $hort, Soulja Boy, Young Joc, Paul Wall, Twista and more. The brand has also supported Latino Carnaval, Funk Fest, Tropical Festival and Banda Fest, while extending its reach into college football through five tailgating events with College Weekly, Tailgreeter and Yuengling.

Now, with Blast Off Blue, Big Sipz is applying that same outside-the-box approach to its newest product. Featuring a sweet-and-tangy flavor profile, the 16% ABV wine-based cocktail expands the brand’s fruit-forward lineup and is currently available at major convenience retailers nationwide, with reported distribution across 48 states.

From celebrity collaborations to concert stages and now the stratosphere, Big Sipz continues to find unconventional ways to turn its product launches into cultural moments.
