TheRealSkitso brings together three respected voices from hip-hop for his latest single, “Mercy,” a record that showcases the Buffalo, New York producer and artist’s ability to create music that bridges generations while staying rooted in the culture.
Released September 2nd, “Mercy” is produced by TheRealSkitso and features M.O.P., Styles P. and Kokane. The collaboration brings together artists with distinctly different sounds and histories, but the record is connected by a shared appreciation for authentic hip-hop.
For TheRealSkitso, that connection begins with the production.
Although he is also an artist, production has remained the primary focus of his musical journey. He began making music at 16, inspired by Gang Starr and the combination of powerful production and sharp lyricism that defined the legendary group’s sound.
That early influence helped shape the way TheRealSkitso approaches records today. Rather than simply creating a backdrop for an artist, he focuses on building a complete musical environment that allows the voices on the record to stand out.
“Mercy” provides a strong example of that approach.
M.O.P. brings the aggressive energy and unmistakable intensity that has defined the duo’s place in hip-hop. Styles P. adds the seasoned lyricism of a veteran who has spent decades representing New York, while Kokane contributes his signature West Coast presence.
