The world ain’t ready for Los Angeles rapper P1. This resonates with the title of his upcoming project, exactly titled, World Ain’t Ready. Today, P1 preps the world for his promising release with the new visual for the breakout track, “Hold Me Down.”
Directed by Brainztem, the new video showcases a charismatic P1. The rising star exhibits a softer side to his known gritty exterior as he expresses his infatuation with love. Its been a long time since we last heard a West Coast artist deliver a signature street soul sound. Filling the void, P1 displays the diversity his musical arsenal has to offer.
“Hold Me Down” originates from P1’s uncertainty due to legal woes. He remembers, “I was fighting a case at the time. I didn’t know if I was going to jail, and I needed to know if my girl would hold me down. I actually went to court earlier that morning, the D.A. stood up and said, ‘he’s a danger to the community.’ They fucked my mind up, cuz I think I’m one of the best things that’s happened to the community. And I just had to face reality, like I could be goin’ to jail. The song also feels so natural because the producer, Grant Nelson, is my childhood friend. We grew up a block away from each other. He did like 5 songs on this new project.”
“Hold Me Down” follows the previous street hits “Street Niggas” and “Big On Big.” The new single is streaming now on Treacherous Records. World Ain’t Ready arrives late-2020. For more on P1, follow the rising star on Twitter.
