The legends from Hollis Queens will be the first Hip Hop group to have the honor of receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed upon them at the famed award show.

The 58th annual Grammy Awards will be held on Monday, Feb. 15 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Darryl McDaniel’s aka DMC will be on deck to receive the award and about the honor Joseph Simmons aka Reverend Run tweeted, “I just got a call from the Grammys!! They shocked me!! We’re the first rappers to get this award!! Shocked! Grateful!. God is good!!!,”

Although Jazon Mizell better known as Jam Master Jay won’t be physically present at the event due to his untimely death in 2002, months after the trio had their hand prints cemented in Hollywood’s RockWalk,  he will surely be there in spirit.
