Trappa Redd isn’t chasing permission, approval, or a softened narrative. With her new single “Daddy,” the Chicago rapper and radio personality steps fully into confrontation, not reclamation—because, as she puts it, she already owns who she is. Built on a commanding, Petey Pablo–inspired beat, the record thrives on raw confidence, club-ready energy, and unapologetic boss talk that refuses to explain itself.
As a visible voice on Chicago radio—from Power 106.3 FM to Intellectual Radio and iHeart—Trappa Red understands influence without allowing it to dilute her truth. That platform has sharpened her vulnerability, letting listeners see her full circle: entrepreneur behind Red Kouture, business administration student, content creator, and artist. Her upbringing between Chicago and Gary, Indiana, surrounded by hustling parents, creativity, and travel, laid the foundation for her relentless drive and high-voltage presence.
“Daddy” isn’t framed for a single city or demographic. It’s designed to move rooms, strip clubs, and speakers nationwide, while making one thing clear: approach with intention or don’t approach at all. Critics may focus on the song’s sexuality, but Trappa Red sees layered meaning—power, standards, independence, and self-made authority wrapped into one record.
With an EP, Pretty Trap Sh!t, on the way, “Daddy” serves as an introduction, not a ceiling. Trappa Red is here to shine, unfiltered, on her own terms.
When you stepped into the booth to record “Daddy,” what personal truth were you trying to confront or reclaim?
Choosing between both, I would have to say definitely confronting. Because I can’t reclaim something I already have you feel me. The truth is what the song said “ I know yu like it DADDY ! Looking For A Big Dawg !!! PERIODT
Explain some of the inspirations behind the new single “Daddy?”
Of course, Petey Pablo, myself & the teamm wanted this one. the beat its self speaks volumes and I knew I had to make a hit. You can’t go wrong with that beat had to create some fye.
How did becoming a visible voice on Chicago radio influence the vulnerability you show on “Daddy”?
Influence is the keyword here because I started doing Radio on the 106.3 fm Power Chicago Radio Show to now at intellectualradio.com iHeart and my Radio Chicago. Wanting to do full circle 🥰Showing my creative side from my business (RedKouture) , school for Business Administration, content creator, to music.
Describe your upbringing and how it made you the energetic artist you are today?
I was bless to have pretty decent family & to be brung up in day and age where it was different growing up as a child pure healthy loving. Growning up in Chicago & moving between Gary seeing my OG & pops hustle ,cash out in stores , be the plug on merch, literally anything you need they had. Then opening multiple business in Gary. Real master mind ishh My OG (mom) real creative (real flashy), hands on, & brains, my pops (dad) CASH TALK , loves to travel multiple jobs , provider, they both was mean lol but they cool I did a lot of shit my peers ddnt we travel ALOT. They put that hustle hard & have fun in me for sureeee. My OG call me the jukebox 🤣🤣🤣.
Did making “Daddy” shift how you see the younger version of yourself?
Honestly imma keep it buck I been like that! Mama ain’t raise no fool plus I grew up with all brothers gang.
Was it important to make “Daddy” a Chicago record, or were your focus more on nationwide appeal?
There is not specific target audience for daddy. But definitely a club, strip club banger it’s for every bodyyyyyy foreal.
What were you afraid listeners might assume about you after hearing the song, and how did you push past that?
The song speak for its self don’t come my way on peon ishhh because you deal with boss. Havent experienced any lash if any thing they want me to add they name to the song real talk.
While making “Daddy,” when did you realize it was a hit song?
Wen I heard that beat and saw really reaction from my team peers and family. Shout out Michael Otis.
Does being a radio personality make it easier for your music to gain popularity because you know what the people want?
Respectfully, I make music for myself. Simply expressing the way and I feel being creative. I would say the main thing is to be yourself. Because honestly, that’s what they want is for you to be yourself not for you to be like everybody else you want people to like you for you. Now, if the people request stuff then, yeah I will definitely make that for them or want me to perform a certain song then I’m down. Being on Radio makes it easier for them to get to know my personality and knowing the right connections to get the music played.
In your opinion, how competitive is the current music scene for a woman in Chicago Hip Hop?
Right now, I would say it’s very competitive. There are a lot of rising stars. Especially women in general not Just in Chicago. Female rap has taken over not to sayin that the male is not hitting. I just feel like we hit a little harder overall. Personally, there is no competition with me. I just come to shine my light and rocked the Mic.
You juggle being an artist and a radio personality. How did wearing both hats affect the honesty you allowed yourself?
Being Radio personality and artist are two of many hats that I wear but they definitely give me the outlet to express who I am tell stories letting my creative side flow share experiences and in a sense my way of giving back to the people.
How do you handle the critics’ displeasure with the song’s oversexualized tone?
For real for real, just put on a The clean version. And read between the lines in the song. Not only am I talking to Daddy💕♥️🤭, but it describes Trappa Redd being the boss that she is, and if someone is to approach her, they need to have it all together. From fake females , freaking in sheets, given advice on game, having a banging body and getting money is all categorize into this one song .
Where does your journey take you after “Daddy?”
Well, I’m working on my EP. I have more features singles shows Radio interviews business sponsorships. And more things to get ready for the new year of 2026. Daddy It’s just a taste of what Trappa Redd is capable of. Be looking out for my EP Pretty Trap Sh!t ⭐️ and singles dropping like Pretty Trap B!tch , 3.Am & C.C.
How similar are Trappa Redd, the artist, and your personal life?
Trappa Red and I are very similar when it comes to being the fashionista having their exploding personality And bringing that light is 24/7. Personally, life is hard but I believe that with consistent & perseverance you can overcome anything and be where you want to be in life. There isn’t much difference between Trappa Red and who I am personally other than me, being a mom when off camera and dealing with those obstacles of everyday life. It fuels me to focus on my music 100% and be my own boss. We work as one but there are two side sides.
Who inspired you to rap?
Honestly, no one inspired me to rap it was a decision that I made on my own! My mother called me a jukebox because I was always dancing and singing 90% of the time I’m listening to music. I am not a big TV head or Movie head throw on some music and I’m good or just let me be the DJ and we cool. I can’t even count how many songs I have in my body like tattoos they all songs artist unless it my kids name no bull shit. When people took one look at me, whether I was coming to do interviews or just come in to Vibe a lot of people will come up to me questioning me if I was a artist. From the way I dress , walk in the rooms my light has that effect on people. I felt like it was my calling every where I went people walk up to me and say are you performing are you performing and I was just say no I’m here to do interviews and then they will say no you look like you had to perform and that happened to me for about a year. In my small circle that I keep people close to me were all for it every time I spoke of the idea or told them a story of how I was in the club and how somebody approached me and they just told me like we could definitely see that because of the way that you are very artsy very creative & lots Self expression while being an outlet.
What do you remember about the Chicago Hip Hop you grew up on?
I remember it was a time where there were a lot of family gathering playing some of the best music. Moving on down to the basement parties, the sock hops & , the skate rink all of was a vibe it was definitely a time . Not saying that our today doesn’t have what it takes I’m just saying it really made you feel some type of way it made you think. True frequencies of not trying too hard. Its a familiar trend of bringing back old songs and adding your own twist of the New Age genre to it because everybody knows that those old songs gonna hit err time so sprinkle your personality on it and make it yours. True banger when made just right. Make sure y’all check out my business at Red Kouture on my Facebook business page.
