$onny: Lost in Lust, Found in Truth

18

Rising artist $onny, known on social media as sonnyx187, is carving out a sound rooted in raw emotion, lived experience, and relentless ambition. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he spent much of his upbringing moving between Toronto and Los Angeles, absorbing different cultures and musical energies along the way. Influenced heavily by artists like The Weeknd and Drake, $onny developed a style that blends vulnerability with melodic storytelling. Those early inspirations can be felt throughout his music, shaping the foundation of an artist determined to turn pain into purpose.

That pain becomes especially clear in his latest EP, Lost in Lust, a five-track project that dives deep into themes of love, betrayal, and emotional confusion. Inspired by a deeply personal experience involving betrayal from both his best friend and the mother of his child, the project captures the reality of heartbreak that felt calculated and intentional. Rather than masking the hurt, $onny channels it directly into his music, creating something many listeners can relate to. As he explains through one of his standout lines, “I need something real, something I can fucking feel,” the project reflects his desire for authenticity in a world he feels is filled with fake and phony energy.

Since stepping into music in May 2025, $onny has shown impressive growth and consistency. His first release, “I’ll Be Okay,” produced and engineered by Jaeonthebeat and featuring Las Vegas artist Carat, marked the beginning of a rapidly expanding catalog. Since then, he has built strong creative relationships, particularly with producers BenjiFranks, Jaeonthebeat, and RedCoatKid—each contributing to the sound and direction of Lost in Lust. From sessions in Las Vegas to work in Arizona at Sound Valley Studio, these collaborations have helped shape a distinct sonic identity, with $onny and Jaeonthebeat alone creating around 50 songs together.

Looking ahead, $onny’s focus is clear: consistency, growth, and opportunity. With upcoming appearances like the Rap Arena competition in Las Vegas on March 14, 2026—where major industry names including Rick Ross are expected to be present—and a performance at Backstage Bar on March 29 hosted by DJ Shakespeare, he continues to put himself in position to be seen and heard. His mindset is simple but powerful: keep dropping music, keep performing, and keep building a team. Fully confident in his passion and sound, $onny believes it’s only a matter of time before one record breaks through and puts him on the radar for good.
